The Descendants

*I try to make quick movie reviews so I don't bore you away*

George Clooney plays Matt King in the movie 'The Descendants' this movie is set in beautiful Hawaii. Matt King is a confused father of two (Scooter, 10 and Alexandra, 17). He finds out his Wife is involved in an accident leaving her in a permanent coma. Alexandra lives in boarding school on a different island. Matt flies over to tell her the news and bring her home, she is just as upset as her father is but only to find out that it's something else that is bothering her. Their journey is captured on the beautiful Islands on Hawaii. But not so much beautiful things happen when you in a beautiful place.

I just watched this movie for the first time yesterday and I must say I wasn't impressed. For starters I thought this movie was going to have a bit of romance and showing Alexandra and Scooter as they grow up. I thought this movie was about a father who didn't know how to control his children because the mother looked after them and he has to look after them now all because of the accident. For me this movie was quite depressing. The fact that the mother is never going to wake up upsets me but the thing about this movie is, it relates to people in real life and it can really help husbands that are going through divorces and family problems as well as teenagers and children. George Clooney did a good portrayal of Matt King and I liked Shialene Woodley's character it's good to see her do another teenage role but more spiced up. She did quite a lot of swearing in this movie and was quite moody, which I can relate to. The scenery in the movie is breathtaking, especially when they're chilling at the beach. One day I'm gonna go Hawaii! The only thing I wish they could have changed about this movie is the plot. It was a good plot but at some point I got bored and I was waiting for something interesting to happen and it didn't.

What audience would you recommend this to?
This movie is quite serious so it's sorta for the adults but teenagers can watch too also for people that are dealing with family issues and want to relate (Movies are great therapy by the way!)

/5 stars
